Kamars, dal nome di Chiusi in etrusco, è il laboratorio di ceramiche artistiche di Flavio Ferdinando Foderini. Fondato nel 1958 dal padre Fernando, insieme al Maestro Don Manfredo Coltellini, è stato la prima bottega d’arte a nascere nel comune di Chiusi ed ancora oggi basa la sua attività sulle caratteristiche delle botteghe artigiane del Rinascimento toscano, affermatesi in tutto il proprio splendore con Luca della Robbia nel ‘400. La conduzione familiare, la meticolosità nell’apprendimento del mestiere e la rigorosità nell’esecuzione dei manufatti, sono le “regole” tramandate dal padre al figlio insieme ai segreti nati dalla lunga esperienza di oltre mezzo secolo. 

Flavio Ferdinando è un giovane artigiano entusiasta della propria passione per l’arte e per le maioliche antiche e moderne, grande conoscitore ed attento sperimentatore. Gli elementi primordiali, aria, terra, acqua e fuoco, sapientemente plasmati alla Kamars, danno vita ad una collezione artistica con tutti i valori della nostra tradizione apprezzata in Italia ed in tutto il mondo.

Kamars, the Etruscan name for the town of Chiusi in Tuscany, is a renowned pottery workshop owned by Flavio Ferdinando Foderini. Founded in 1958 jointly by his father, Ferdinand senior, and the master craftsman Don Manfredo Coltellini, it is the oldest workshop in the area of Chiusi. The pottery is still based on the historic features of that of the Tuscan renaissance, as seen in the successes of Lucca della Robbia during the 1400s.

The family traditions, meticulous attention to detail and the rigour of hand-made production techniques form a rich heritage created over more than half a century which has been handed down from father to son. 

Flavio Ferdinando is an expert in the historic artistic traditions of Tuscany and is able to bring these together with more modern techniques to make original works of art. The primordial elements of air, earth, water and fire, are skilfully moulded by Kamars to give life to an artistic collection built on the historic values of the rich Tuscan pottery tradition as appreciated throughout Italy and indeed the world.

You will be most welcome to visit the workshop and showroom to see first hand how the pottery starts as a simple piece of clay and is transformed into a finished work of art. The collection includes sacred images, ancient and modern art, Etruscan reproductions, personalised pieces, traditional Tuscan ceramics, terracotta and it is even possible to commission an original piece, any of which would be a perfect souvenir of your stay in Tuscany.
